Recipe: Char Kuey Teow, my style

Assalamualaikum semua..

So, last week since most of my siblings (except nana in kelate nun) was at home, I was pretty sure that they'll definitely request something from me and................my lil bro did (expected doh!). As usual, before he went to boarding school, he used to request so many things until I felt burdened (masa tu je lah, skang dh tak...hiksss). Now, when everyone is away, far from home, I feel beyond happy when they request any food from my hand-water. Alhamdulillah, so far, they are my loyal and seriously honest food criticisers, too honest weyyy. Whenever I cooked something, they'll be the first to taste and they'll give comments. Kadang-kadang sampai sentap jiwa dgn komen dorang :).

My lil bro really loves char kuey teow or anything with soups and gravies (he really resembles me). And, suddenly he told me "Kak, boleh tak tolong masak your awesome gileerrr Char Kuey Teow?". I was like, "awesome ke?". And he replied " Ami boleh makan Char Kuey Teow tu banyak-banyak n hari-hari pon xpe". Amboi, cliche sungguh jawapan tuh, (tp dlm hati rse cm nk je peluk cium dy). Then, there goes my groceries hunting for my simple CKT at ECONSAVE. Tp syg, chives (daun kucai) xjumpe. I'm not really a fan of chives since dy punye rasa tu mcm pungent. Tp, never ever abaikan peranan chives when u deal with kuey teow. Kemon, chives ngn kuey teow tu dh mcm adik beradik, sebati jiwa rasa kot. So, JANGAN abaikan chives bila masak kuey teow. Again, JANGAN abaikan.

Here's the recipe:

Clockwise:
1) Kuey Teow la of course, name pon Char Kuey Teow
2) The secret sauce for the gravies (for those yg suke CKT berkuah sket)
3) Taugeh
4) Garlic infused oil
5) Udang (lagi besa lagi sedap, tp jgn over smpai pakai lobster)

Tiada dlm gambar:
6) Daun kucai
7) Telur

So, this is the gravy that I made myself since my family don't like those sell in the market. So, how to make this. Simple:

How to:
1) Panaskan minyak
2) Tumis cili giling (homemade cili giling taste better. Trust me!) sampai masak
3) Masukkan kicap pekat disertai air
4) Bile dah boiling, masokkan udang (supaya manis udang tu terasa sampai kat gravy dy)
5)Perasa with garam and a bit secukup rasa (optional)

DONE!

Yang ni pulak nme glamer dy GARLIC INFUSED OIL(GIO), padahal hanyalah chopped garlic ditumis dgn minyak supaya rasa minyak tu ad sket garlic-y. Nak guna oil biasa pon boleh, ikut sukati la. Nak awesome, ikut resepi sy, xnak awesome, xyah ikut (SENTAP x?)

Penggabungan membentuk CKT:

1) Panaskan kuali, msokkan GIO
2) Masukkan kuey teow disertai secret gravy ikut sukatan yang anda nak CKT anda look like
3) Masukkan udang and pcahkan telur. Kalu xnk terlalu bertelur, sebiji telur boleh buat 2 CKT.
4) Masukkan taugeh ( My family like the taugeh half cooked). Again, ikut citarasa masing2!

Then,
x

tadaaaaaaa..............

A homemade CKT terhasil!!.

Make sure kerang tu basuh elok2. Me very malas nak deal dgn kerang, so udang dah cukup. So simple kan? Anyone mengidam, boleh zassss beli bahan-bahan yang senang nk dpt n gong geng gong geng (bunyi kuali). Siap sudah. Selamat mencuba di dapur rumah sendiri (bkn dapo rumah sy tau).

Semoga bermanfaat

Cravings strikes... not good

Assalamualaikum semua...

What a lazy Sunday for me. Sume benda jadi a bit un-productive and tiba2 tekak cam terasa nak mkn tempura SushiKing. Ala, tempura sayur-sayur yang jd compliment dish kalu kita amek bento or set tu. Simple je kan? Tp, kuasa kesedapannya mampu membuat ku kecur air liur. Tambah2 makan dgn wasabi n shoyu....pehhhhhhhh!!! Like seriously tekak... now?. Urghhh.... pelisss dun do this to me! Kejam tau nak teringin-teringin time ngah bersantai habes. Teros g tengok Running Man dgn harapan menggunung bahawasanya teringin tu bole hilang like puffff.. But likewise, it getting worse. Dang!

So, what I did was my own version of vegetable tempura from a newly discovered recipe by Top Chef. I prefer walking to my own kitchen rather than driving nowadays. As long as I don't have to step outta house, it is simple for me... hehehehehehe~ Lahh, sonang yo ghupo ae nak buek tempura ni. Benda-benda basic yg mmg ad kat umah. Kita pakai hari-hari tnpa perlu risau sekiranya barang tersebut berkemungkinan habis.

Tempura Recipe by Top Chef

1. Equal portion of cornflour and wheatflour
2. 2 tbsp of baking powder

3. An egg yolk (per batter)
4. A pinch of salt and warm water

5. Vegetables of your choice. I choose long beans and eggplant... yeayy!!

Methods:

1. Mix everything in a bowl except warm water
2. Slowly add warm water until a fine batter form

*like this*

3. Add the vegetables and deep fried under hot oil for 30 seconds

Finally..........

The tempura texture is soo light and even after an hour, the light crunchiness stays. Yes.... berjaya hilangkan craving untuk tempura ni. Lepas dah buat, rasa cam tak berbaloi plak nak spend RM 4 just for a bowl of this simple tempura. Dgn RM 4 tu mungkin anda boleh buat sebakul tempura and makan smbil tgk movie. Healthier...... kot? So, bole cuba and selamat mencuba ^^

Finest foods in Penang, worth dying for.... die die must try

Assalamualaikum semua..

Wah, tgk title smpai die die uols. Seram sejuk kite tau (sila lempang kalu denga iols ckp cmni scr live). Sepatutnya sudah pulang ke rumah memandangkan esok adalah cuti Maulidur Rasul, namun semangat membara iolss nak jgk update blog. Banyak sebenarnya yg iols nk cerita kat blog, tp disebabkan kemalasan tahap infiniti nak transfer gmba segala, hajat hati direncat begitu sahaja. And, seiring dgn kemajuan teknologi, I should say thanks to DROPBOX sbb menyelamatkan keadaan malas yg meruncing. You guys should have dropbox!! (serious speaking, jari siap tunjuk2). So, mula-mula skali, mind my mixing languages sbb ape yang iolss tules mmg dari hati n hati iolss mmg ckp mixing languages, nak buat camana kan? (muka cam jawa pure, kunun mengaku American...puiii).

Last week (18-19.1.2013) was my highschoolmate wedding, Atikah Azmi in Penang. So, as soon as I heard Penang, I know it is a must-go-wedding since...come on... Penang kot, takkan nak lepaskan peluang melantak begitu sahaja....eh? Terkantoi sudah hajat hati. Thanks to Atikah for making da announcement few months before, so we (my convoy mmbers) dapat planned everything. Yela, going to a food heaven like Penang will cost me more than other places. After my 1st trip to Penang around August 2012, I knew that I'll definitely come again SOON! And..... wallahhhh here I am again.

congrates sayang, you were taken (kesat airmata)

So, I guess, you guys should indulge your eyes with pictures of my trips. Have fun guys~

1. Sesudah check-in pada jam 12.30 a.m, terus cari nasi kandar Line Clear (seriously dlm otak duk zikir nasi kandar weiiii, hilang semua penat). My lauk were ayamadu, teluq masin, kubis n lots of lots of graaaavvvyyyy. This cost me around RM 7, affordable enough I guess. COMPLETED!

2. This is our budget hotel, SE Hotel in mainland, Seberang Perai. Small, but seriously cleanliness and selesa gilaaa baq hang. Worth da price when you guys on budget like us (triple standard- RM90++ if make reservation from Agoda.com)

3. So believe it or not, after makan nasi kandar tu, we straight away bantai Char Kuey Teow Sg. Dua pulak. Serakah tak serakah nye nafsu. Actually, twas my idea. But, who cares? (petik jari, lengguk-lengguk badan). Last trip, hajat nak makan CKT sdap tak dapat, so ngences tau!! (bajet bby nak ngences bagai). Siap order special kauuu xnak mengalah perut dah tegang.

*nampak tak betapa rakusnya nafsu smpai letak gamba mknn dulu baru gmba hotel. Bias siyoooot*

4. My breakfast da next day at nearby mamak stall in front of our hotel. Okayla. Just nak fill in stomach a bit since I think last night's foods still left undigested. hehehehehe. Tosai telur if I'm not mistaken (betapa bias terhadap breakfast ni smpi x ingat nama)

5. After the Akad Nikah, we wandered around Tesco Extra since the makan-makan will only start at 1230 p.m. So, we decided to find some ice cream since Penang was so hot at noon. We bought 2 pint of ice creams eaten for 4. It's BnJ n Choka Blok y'all....heaveeeennn~ Accidentally, I saw this pulut mangga which I've been searching for like ages. But first, I checked on the seller. How? By hearing the languages they used. Huk alohhhh, mek klate pulokkk. Memey sedak la gini....zassssss, terus order kauuu~ (nampak tak betapa dahsyat tahap xboleh berfikir bila kat Penang?)

After wandering around and badan yang hot semakin cool (ewaahhh), we went back to the kenduri. We ate a bit, cium polok membe terchenta, pukol punggung memasing n we (convoy members) left to hotel room tanpa menunggu ketibaan pengantin akibat kepenatan melampau and we need to recharge. But, at least we witnessed da Akad Nikah, n I have a good feeling leaving without waiting for da perantinss. Takpe kan tikah?. We slept for few hours n recharge by 60%. Yeay, off we check-out at 5 pm for more Penang touring.

After persuading and hinting for few hours, they knew that I really wanna take-off to island by ferry. Thanks!!!!!!!!!.

(Super tourist feeling start, dgn topi meghah tak hengat uolsss. Dua kali tgk, mcm topi Mister Potato)

Then, we went to Batu Uban, nearby Queensbay Mall and menghadap Pulau Jerejak. Mcm creepy dgn pulau tu, tp the view was subhanAllah. Cantek gile!!. I had some sesi beramah mesra with kwn2 terchenta, terharu gila jumpa sekoq-sekoq. Hangpa suma dah besaq gilaaaaa (bajet aku kecik gilaaaaa)
